Consulting

Our experience ensures that you do not waste time and money by executing a project with the wrong measurement tool and miss critical stages where industrial measurement is critical to the project execution success.

Project Consulting

Dimensional Control Management is common in the upstream construction industry however the concept remains foreign in the downstream industry.

SHORES MDS can work with any organization to ensure a dimensional control strategy is formed. The strategy shall be used to identify potential problems, cost benefits and recognize past project failures.

Having a consultant work on the project either full or part-time shall place the necessary hols on certain activities. This concept is similar to an API inspector who inspects a weld from start through to completion. An example being:

The welder cannot put hit root in until preheat temperature is achieved and the gap and bevel is correct. The dimensional control plan would say the foundation cannot be poured until 3rd party acceptance of location and evaluation is approved or a vessel cannot be set until the bolt pattern on the vessel and foundation has been checked.

This plan ensures no critical errors creep into projects resulting in expensive rework and completion extensions.

The use of dimensional technology is commonly used on a project however often the wrong technology is used or it is incorrectly used. People through no fault of their own just say "we have to scan this." When they say that phrase they get just that, a laser scan and are left wondering what they do with a point cloud model. Most companies who provide both laser scanning and dimensional control will always push laser scanning as it yields a greater profit. SHORES MDS believe in providing the right technology for the job.

SHORES MDS have the experience to identify whether a project should be laser scanned or surveyed using industrial dimensional control.

Some factors to consider when considering what technology to use:

  • Budget
  • What do you want to get out the project
  • What deliverable is required
  • How long will it take to execute and get a deliverable
  • What accuracy is required
  • How much data is required
  • Is the scope clearly defined or is it at the concept phase

How can we help you?

No matter the size or complexity of the project SHORES MDS can help establish an execution plan from the start to the completion of a project.
